Our Heritage & Ecological Purpose
Founding History & Roots
The Wyoming Conservation Exchange (WCE) was founded on the fundamental principle that private land stewardship is the cornerstone of western wildlife conservation. In Wyoming, working ranches harbor the vast majority of vital winter range, fertile valleys, and water sources required by native big game and greater sage-grouse.
Rather than relying solely on restrictive regulations, WCE develops voluntary, incentive-based conservation mechanisms. We quantify habitat value through robust scientific metrics, enabling landowners to generate tangible conservation credits through proactive land management, weed control, and habitat enhancement.
Governance & Fiduciary Standards
Wyoming Conservation Exchange operates under the governance of an independent, uncompensated Board of Directors dedicated to natural resource preservation and public trust. Our leadership exercises rigorous oversight over conservation project budgets, field safety, and ethical compliance.
As an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN: 81-3433788), our annual financial statements and IRS Form 990 filings are maintained in open public record and available through our office or via GuideStar/Candid.
Wyoming Conservation Exchange is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN: 81-3433788). Inquiries regarding our financial records, Form 990 filings, and habitat crediting methodologies may be directed to PO Box 206, Cheyenne, WY 82003.
